Hosted by our beautiful Laura Rendle; or as we like to call her: Rendle, Jessop, Lau… any of the above. She takes us back through our 20’s which some say are the highlights of life. It’s time to make mistakes, travel the world and live vicariously!

“You don’t know you’re in the good old days until they’re gone.”

There is a lot happening throughout your 20’s. For some it’s the time to let your hair down and enjoy being that age where there are limited responsibilities and for other’s it’s time to settle down and focus on your life goals and career ambitions. For most of us, we decided it was a time for both! The time of your life where you really decide who you want to be.

Your 20’s is the perfect time to make mistakes – so make them! Take those risks. They may turn into mistakes you can learn from but they might just change your life!

“Do i know what i am actually doing with my life?”

It might be the first time you look around you and realise people are progressing in different things at different paces. From getting engaged, married and having children to progressing through their jobs and reaching their goals. It’s good and healthy to have goals to reach, just don’t think you need to be doing them at the same time as the people around you. The perfect time for them is never going to align with the perfect time for you – and that’s OK.

We discuss a lot of feelings during this podcast, learning about the difficulties we all have been through during this decade of our lives. With three years to go till we are all 30, it can be a scary time. For those of you out there feeling lost or confused, have no fear, we are all in the same boat! As you will hear from some of our testimonials, it’s OK to feel scared.

“I had to learn how to navigate it without a Satnav!”

There can be a lot of stress in trying to achieve the goals that you have set out for yourself and it may not all work out the way you wanted or planned, but don’t feel disheartened as it might mean that fate has a different path for you which could make you happier in the long run.

It’s normal, and really healthy to feel content in your life and not be where you had planned by this point. Life will throw curves and obstacles at you, the important thing is to be happy, stay positive and keep going.

“Making me feel fucking old”

Our first podcast took you through our antics at University, a place where a lot of people find themselves and start setting their goals. but it wasn’t until we left that we realised that our very thought out plans – which were sure to go smoothly – may have to change slightly. Life often gets in the way and sometimes you find that it’s not really what you wanted anyway.

Questioning yourself is a huge part of growing up at any age, but with all that is going on during your 20’s asking the right questions is the key.

“Don’t see the end of university as the starting line of a race.”

While we all met at University, and do discuss this in depth is just a stepping stone to where you will eventually reach and you may not even want to go to Uni at all, this is perfectly OK too. Everyone takes different paths in life which is what makes us all so unique. As Albert Einstein said (or didn’t* say but some smart cookie certainly did): “Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish by it’s ability to climb a tree it will live it’s whole life believing that it is stupid.”

*Apparently it is up for debate as to whether this actually comes from Einstein himself, so we’ll just give you a heads up there!

Whether you do go to Uni or not, there are so many times in life where you learn and grow. Everything can seem like it’s going wrong but just remember that when one door closes it makes space for another door to open. While you may feel like a fish out of water in your early 20’s it’s all about finding your feet and deciding what is best for you. Judge your own timeline and not the one of the people around you.

We also discussed dating in your twenties, meeting in bars vs meeting on dating Apps such as Tinder and Bumble. from awkwardly asking each other to be boyfriend and girlfriend to getting engaged and married! What are your experiences? Let us know if you’re with a total romantic!

“I blew him off for about a year”

How do you feel about going out to eat by yourself? or going to the cinema on your own? It’s not a particularly popular activity but learning to love your own company can be a wonderful thing.

“It was amazing, i didn’t have anyone yapping on my side.”

Having time to yourself is so important, especially when you’re trying to navigate your way through your 20’s. Whether you like to curl up with a nice book and a hot drink, or a glass of wine in the bath.

“Rub my belly, love me, feed me!”

You deserve some “me time”. Use the hashtag #blbrpodcast to let us know what your favourite thing to do when you’re on your own is!

“Save your damn money!”

Saving your money may be one of the most important pieces of advice we can give you. Whether it’s £1 a week or a month every little helps. Creating a routine where you are actively putting money away, as much or as little as it may be, will really help you later on when you actually need to be good at it.

We all wish that we had started saving just that fraction earlier. Even if you don’t feel like you need it now, a head start on a deposit for a house or that girls holiday can’t be bad, right?

“Credit cards are not money”

Credit cards are great for when you don’t have the money but you want or need something straight away. Just don’t forget that it all has to be paid back at some point, and the best way to do that is straight away so you can avoid any interest.

Give a fuck!”

So many people have this “I don’t give a..” attitude and it can be quite damaging for people who think they need to be cool and relaxed about everything. But to be honest actually caring about what is happening in your life, or giving a fuck, is what makes us human. Don’t let people make you feel like it’s not normal to worry, it’s perfectly normal and it’s needed to allow you to look at a situation and make a educated decision.

Learn from the curve balls that life throws at you and enjoy yourself! Navigating your 20’s can be a tricky time, but it’s also the most fun. Because let’s be real… we’re all just trying to find our way.
